Maria Gabriela Zoana is a Romanian politician, member of the Social Democratic Party (PSD). In the European Parliament, she is the Vice-Chair of Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development, member of Committee on Women’s Rights and Gender Equality and Delegation for relations with the Arab Peninsula. She is also the substitute member in Committee on Regional Development, Delegation for relations with the People’s Republic of China, Delegation for relations with South Africa and Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean.

Before joining the European Parliament, Ms. Zoana was the Deputy Director-General in the National Trade Register Office and a lecturer in the Department of Law, University of Pitesti. Ms. Zoana has been working as a lawyer for 10 years. She was also a successful mediator, who participated in the founding of Pitesti Mediation Association (2005).

In 2007, Ms. Zoana was elected as the vice-president of the Youth Organization of PSD in Pitesti. In 2010, she became the President of the Women’s Organisation of PSD (OFSD) in Piteşti and vice-president of PSD Piteşti until 2012. She also serves as secretary executive in the OFSD National Council.

Ms. Zoana has education background both in law and international affairs in Romania and other European countries. She obtained a PhD degree in Law (2010), specializing in criminal law.
