From wildfires and Covid-19, to protests for racial justice and the rise of identity politics, 2020 was a dramatic and challenging year. Through this period of rapid change, the future remains uncertain. What is the impact on young people, and how are they responding to these dramatic events? To find out, ViacomCBS has undertaken a new research project: ‘Beyond 2020: Global Youth – Voices & Futures’, involving over 8,000 16- to 24-year-olds in 15 countries, along with remote video interviews and immersive digital exercises in six of those countries.
ViacomCBS and EU40, in partnership with Euractiv, have organized this digital event to present the findings of this research and to discuss them with young EU politicians/policy makers and active citizens. How are young people feeling about the events of 2020? What are their visions and priorities for the future? How will this manifest itself in their behavior and the choices they make? A panel of speakers will share their own experiences and hopes, and discuss what needs to be done, referencing issues raised in the study: social movements, campaigning, and EU projects.
