EU40, together with the Committee of the Regions, is happy to organise a Social Media Breakfast with around 120 young politicians from all over Europe, in light of the #EURegionsWeek.
The initiative aims at giving concrete best practices and coaching on social media for politicians, and equip them with tips & tricks on how to better reach EU citizens and their audience.
The event will see the presence of EU40 MEPs, Ms Josianne Cutajar (S&D – Malta) and Ms Evin Incir (S&D – Sweden). Both MEPs have demonstrated a strong use of Social Media during their electoral campaigns and at the beginning of their mandate as politicians and will share some insights and lessons learned with the young politicians.
Background on the Young Elected Politicians’ programme
In March 2019, the European Committee of the Regions invited 100 Young Elected Politicians at local and regional level (YEPs) to take part in the 8th European Summit of Regions and Cities.
This first initiative was a success and encouraged the European Committee of the Regions (CoR) to continue involving YEPs in its activities. In June, the CoR launched a new call towards this political audience to gather their interest to take part in the European Week of Regions and Cities (#EURegionsWeek) on 7-10 October 2019. More than 700 applications were received over three weeks, which results in the invitation of around 100 Young Elected Politicians.
