As fashion projects coordinator at MAD BRUSSELS, the new Fashion & Design Center in Brussels, Elke Timmerman is more than ambitious to promote the Brussels and Belgian fashion talent in Belgium and abroad. After a career as coordinator of Modo Brussels, that had been integrated within MAD Brussels in 2013, she is convinced of Belgium’s high potential in terms of fashion, as well as the unique position of our designers in the international fashion landscape. By organizing several projects as the MAD Designers Sales (before Modo Sales), the famous Modo FashionTrail (Parcours), a brand new European Fashion Summit under the name MADIFESTO, and several international promotion projects she developed a keen eye to discover new talent.
Graduated as Master in International Politics, she started her career in London as export project manager for the Flemish invest & export agency. With her two passions ‘politics and fashion’, she started short courses at the famous British fashion school Central St Martins to get to know the fashion landscape from inside. Two years later she came back to Belgium and started – after a stop in a design agency in Brussels – working as a PR agent in Antwerp where she discovered a third passion: the importance of communication.
