Kristine Berzina

Berzina_BildeKristine Berzina is responsible for shaping The German Marshall Fund of the United States’ energy programming in Europe and the United States. Berzina is an expert on transatlantic energy issues and has authored several publications about transatlantic energy trade flows, resource exploration in the Arctic, European bioenergy policy, resource efficiency, foreign policy in the Baltic States, and international affairs more broadly.

Prior to joining GMF, Berzina was a Berlin-based consultant on energy and environmental policy managing projects evaluating European perceptions of U.S. liquid natural gas exports and assessing EU member state progress on resource efficiency goals. Before that, she was a transatlantic fellow at the Ecologic Institute in Berlin and worked on climate change adaptation and international development in Washington, DC.

Berzina is widely recognized as a thought leader and is a frequentl speaker at conferences, symposia, and other events. She has been quoted or interviewed by The Wall Street Journal, National Public Radio, The Christian Science Monitor, Le Temps, the Danish Broadcasting Corporation, Energy Wire and the SNL Daily Gas Report.

Berzina completed a master’s degree in international relations at the University of Cambridge. She received her bachelor’s in political science and history from Yale University.
