Esther de Lange has been an MEP since 2007 for the CDA (Christian Democratic Appeal) of the Netherlands, belonging to the EPP group in the European Parliament. She is a member of the Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development, the Committee on Budgetary Control, the Committee on Environment, Public Health and Food Safety and vice-chair of the Iraq delegation. Esther’s main focus concerns the areas of food and product safety, environment, agriculture, minority rights and the European budget.

She studied at the Institute for Higher European Studies (HEBO) in The Hague, where she graduated cum laude in 1998 from the political and administrative specialization with a thesis on the EU Treaty of Amsterdam. As part of an ERASMUS exchange, she studied political science at the University of Lyon. Esther studied international relations at the Université de Libre Bruxelles (ULB) until 2001. She started her professional career in Lyon, where she worked for the Dutch automobile association ANWB. She later worked as a project manager for the European Federation of National Organizations for the Homeless in Brussels and she was active as a lobbyist for two German trade associations in Brussels.

Esther furthermore worked as a policy advisor for the CDA delegation in European Parliament.
