European Health Parliament 2017 – second plenary session

On December 5th, the second plenary session of the European Health Parliament 2017 took place from 09.00 to 18.00h at the European Parliament. The event was hosted by MEP Andrey Kovatchev (EPP, ENVI Member), MEP Miroslav Mikolasik (EPP, ENVI Member) and Nicola Caputo (S&D, ENVI Member).

The event was moderated by Robert Madelin, Chairman, Fipra International and gathered the following speakers: Elen Ohov, Counsellor for e-Services in Health and Social Affairs, Estonian Presidency of the Council of the EU, Sylvain Giraud, Head of Unit, DG SANTE B1, Health Systems, European Commission, Stanimir Hazadzhiev, General Secretary, Patient Access Partnership and Board Member, European Patients’ Forum, Magdalena Rodriguez de Azero, Executive Director, Vaccines Europe, Niek Klazinga, Head of the Health Care Quality Indicators (HCQI) Project, OECD Health Division, Mirgen Jaku, Lead of Market Development, Digital Surgery EMEA, Johnson&Johnson, Nadine Bongaerts, PhD candidate Synthetic Biology, Vice President at Hello Tomorrow, Founder at Science Matters, Arthur Stril, Founder, Zinc, Michele Chang, Professor, European Political and Governance Studies Department, College of Europe, Joe Elborn, President, European Health Parliament.

The new edition of the EHP gathers 57 young professionals motivated to contribute to a healthier Europe. Inspired by the motto “Make Health Great Again”, these brilliant minds are working together for six  months, until April 2018, in five committees ranging from Outcomes–based Healthcare Systems, Robotics, a.i. & Precision Medicine, Antimicrobial Resistance, a Health Workforce Planning, to an European Vaccine Initiative. 

The project was initiated by Johnson&Johnson and supported by Google, POLITICO, the College
of Europe, European Patients Forum and EU40.
